Workflow blocks

The interactive building blocks for guided Messenger conversations.

A workflow doesn't just react to events behind the scenes. It can also run a guided conversation right inside Messenger: ask a question, show buttons, collect a rating. These eight blocks are what that conversation is built from.

Block

What it does in Messenger

Message

Posts a message and continues immediately

Show expected reply time

Shows the customer how long a reply typically takes, then continues

Let Quinn answer

Hands the turn to Quinn, then waits for Quinn to reply or hand off

Disable replies

Turns off the message box so the customer can't type, paired with another block

Reply buttons

Shows button options and waits for the customer to pick one

Collect data

Asks for a structured value (text, number, a choice, or a date) and stores it as a conversation attribute

Collect customer reply

Asks for a free-text reply and stores it as a conversation attribute

Ask for a rating

Requests a CSAT rating and waits for the customer's response

Most blocks pause the workflow until the customer responds. Message and the reply-time block are the exception: they post and move straight to the next node.

CSAT over email

The rating block doesn't have to run live in Messenger. It can also send a satisfaction request by email, with emoji rating links the customer clicks straight from their inbox.

Note:
Emailed rating links are signed and valid for 30 days. After that, the link no longer records a rating.

Abandoned conversations

If a customer starts a guided flow, like answering a data-collection prompt or picking a reply button, and never responds, the wait doesn't have to sit open forever. Workflows can auto-close a conversation after it's been abandoned for a configured amount of time.

Note:
Auto-close only applies to conversations the customer never actually engaged with. If they sent even one message, or left contact details you've chosen to capture, the conversation is left open for a teammate to review instead of being closed automatically.
