Import from other tools

Switching tools shouldn't mean starting from zero. Quackback's import wizard pulls your posts, votes, comments, and statuses from UserVoice or Canny, and shows you exactly what will change before anything touches your data.

Overview

Access imports from Admin → Settings → Imports & exports. From there you can:

Import from UserVoice or Canny with a guided mapping wizard
Preview an import with a dry run before committing
Track import runs as they process in the background
Export your posts, users, conversations, and audit log

Import from UserVoice or Canny

Choose your source - UserVoice or Canny.
For Canny, enter your Canny API key. For UserVoice, upload your export file.
Map fields - Quackback auto-suggests matches based on column names; adjust anything that's off.
Map values - line up statuses, boards, and other values with their Quackback equivalents. Create new ones inline if you need to.
Run a dry run to preview exactly what will be created or updated, with row-level errors flagged before you commit.
Commit the import.

Tip:
Always run the dry run first. It shows you exact create and update counts and flags row-level problems, so nothing surprising lands in your workspace.

Track import runs

Imports run in the background, so you can navigate away while a large import processes. Each run moves through Queued, Validating, Importing, and then Completed or Failed. Open Admin → Settings → Imports & exports any time to check progress or review a past run's results.
